Teens Gain Experience in Their First Job
CRT invites teens to explore future careers in the Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program.
The Community Renewal Team Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program (SYELP), provided in partnership with Capital Workforce Partners, gives eligible students in the city of Hartford a meaningful summer employment experience – for many students, this is their first real job! The SYELP is a work and learn program designed to provide participants with career development skills through experience in work placement. This program operates for five weeks in July and August each summer.

Capital Workforce Partners is now accepting applications for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYELP). SYELP will provide participants with paid summer jobs and learning experiences, while offering special life skills training to prepare them for the job market. Youth have the opportunity to develop skills, set career goals, and learn more about their community and the world of work.
Please review the below eligibility requirements before completing the application. All eligible applicants must complete the Summer Youth Employment Application to be considered for the program. Applicants must:
- Be between the ages 14-24 ( By July 1st 2023)
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Regional applicants must be low income

The total cost of the Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program in 2020 is $143,254. $143,254, (100%) is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
