An Affordable Community for Grandfamilies
Searching for an affordable community to raise your grandchildren? CRT Generations offers attractive, multi-bedroom townhouses for grandparents with legal custody or guardianship of at least one grandchild at 35 Clark Street in Hartford.
Children get services that help growth and learning. Educational activities are held after school and on weekends. Mentors, tutors and a full computer lab help children succeed in school. Caseworkers support grandparents as they handle daily parenting and meet family needs. Workshops and social activities help grandparents help their grandchildren.
Staff speaks English and Spanish.
To Apply
Grandparents must:
- Be income qualified
- Be U.S. citizens, national or eligible non-citizen
- Have legal custody or guardianship of at least one grandchild
- Grandchildren must be under the age of 18
The following papers will be needed:
- Legal custody must be provided or any two documents from the following list:
- Court-ordered guardianship
- Notarized letter from one of the legal parents
- School records with grandparents’ address as primary residence
- Medical records showing the grandparent as primary caregiver
- Written statement from the child(ren)’s health care provider
- Written statement from placement agency (ex. DCF)
- Verification indicating grandparent receives income on behalf of child(ren)
- Social Service Records or statement
- A written statement from grandparents’ place of worship
- Proof of income and assets
- Birth certificates or other proof of age
- Valid Social Security cards
- CT State ID card
