CRT Summer Food Service Program joined Senator Chris Murphy for a press conference at the House of Restoration Church on 7/28/23.  The press conference was to highlight the importance of the Summer Food Service Program and tour a distribution facility.

WTIC/FOX 61 interview with CRT’s Director of Nutrition, Nancy Isa focusing on the Summer Food Service Program.  CRT’s Summer Food Service Program begins in June and runs through the summer.  CRT prepares and delivers breakfast and lunch for children 18 and under at 12 locations in Hartford and Central Connecticut.

Mr. Green fell on hard times a few years ago and found himself homeless. He is now receiving services from CRT to get back on his feet and has a roof over his head. He recently received a donated car that he says this is a life-changing gift.

Gov. Ned Lamont chose CRT’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg Women’s Empowerment Center to announce a new state website and hotline for women’s reproductive services. Gov. Lamont, and other key state and local leaders, discussed the importance of this reproductive-rights resource.

The new reproductive rights hotline and website offers information about:
• Understanding your rights
• Finding a provider
• Paying for an abortion
• Transportation and travel
• Resources for health care professionals and providers
• Community support

Please visit https://portal.ct.gov/reproductiverights or call 1-866-CTCHOICE to speak to someone about abortion in Connecticut.

CRT’s Women’s Empowerment Center opened in May 2019. It offers access to meaningful mentorships and provides a safe and open space for women to develop the skills they need to reach their full potential.

The Greater Hartford/Central Connecticut Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will help seniors 60 years of age or older, get to their necessary vaccine appointments by providing a volunteer driver through our signature program – Volunteer Medical Transportation Program (VMTP). RSVP volunteers will pick up the senior, take them to their appointment, stay with them for the duration, and ensure they get home safely afterward.

To make an appointment for a vaccine ride with RSVP, please call or email our RSVP Coordinator, they will call you back and get the needed ride information. A driver will then contact you to confirm the time of pick-up, etc. It’s that simple – we’re here to help!

Adults need to keep their vaccinations up to date because immunity from childhood vaccines can wear off over time. You are also at risk for different diseases as an adult. Vaccination is one of the most convenient and safest preventive care measures available. You may need other vaccines based on your age, health conditions, job, lifestyle, or travel habits. Learn more about what other vaccines may be recommended for you and talk to your healthcare professional about which vaccines are right for you.” (www.cdc.gov/vaccines/adults)
