Volunteer Opportunities

Services

CRT provides Volunteer Opportunities to individuals within our programming community in addition to the mentors and RSVP volunteers previously mentioned. Volunteers are needed to donate their time to specific programs as well as the many services CRT offers including:

  • Elderly Nutrition Program

CRT Elderly Nutrition Program is designed to provide Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors. The program provides healthy, nutritious meals five days per week, allowing many seniors to remain in their homes.
Volunteers deliver meals and provide companionship to the seniors who rarely have visitors and do not get out much.
Senior Community Cafes also offer volunteer opportunities.

  • Early Care and Education Program

CRT Early Care and Education Program provides low-income families with a comprehensive childcare and education for children 3–4 years old. CRT has 20 sites and provides Head Start services to more than 1500 children throughout Greater Hartford and Middlesex counties. Volunteers are needed to read to the children and are welcomed by the children throughout the morning. Additional volunteer opportunities are available at each site.

  • The Retreat

CRT The Retreat is an assisted living facility for seniors who do not need full nursing home services but help with everyday living.Volunteers are needed to read newspapers to the residents, provide companionship, and assist where needed.
